”LODGE NEWSLETTER”

IDEA: Their Secretary writes a Lodge Newsletter that is emailed and sent by post to members. It gives the information discussed at their
meetings and the happenings of their lodges. It is a great idea so your Lodge members keep in touch.
DANISH SISTERHOOD DAGMAR LODGE #4, CHICAGO, MARCH 2004 NEWSLETTER
Dear Members & Friends of Dagmar Lodge #4---Well, well, well, another terrific Frikadeller and Card Party held last Sunday, March 7. We had a full house with many wonderful raffle prizes (I think about 70 gifts). The volunteers for both Saturday and Sunday were fantastic. This was of course under the great leadership of Caroline Christensen and her crew. I know when we get our financial picture we have for sure made a wonderful profit. Thanks also to everyone for attending the Danish Gymnastics show on Sat. March 6!
Next item on a happy note. Our dear member, Kittie LaPointe Peterson, is moving to The Danish Home as of March 15th. She will be in Room #203 and her telephone is 773-775-1672. It will be good to have Kittie back with us again, she was such an instrumental figure in the Sisterhood for many years serving in many offices including President. She joined the lodge on January 18, 1949 according to my records so this past January she was a 55-year member. Wow. I am so sure she was President when I joined the lodge back in the early 60's. Welcome Back Kittie.
Now on a sad note, we lost one of our newer members, Gerda Jorgensen, who was a resident of The Danish Home and we initiated her back in November. There will be a Memorial Service on March 26th at 2:00 P.M. at the Danish Home. I know quite a few of our members including our President Linda, myself, Esther Sorensen, Shirley Andersen and maybe I missed someone will be in Carmel for the Rebild Meeting at that time and sorry to miss this service.
Looking ahead again, we have the following agenda:
Saturday, April 3rd--Meeting at the Danish Home. Remember different time and day. This is a Saturday, we will gather at 12 noon in the Living Room for our meeting, have election of officers, an interesting program that is still being put together. I believe Caroline is going to give us some history on the regalia we officers used to wear for meetings. We will also have initiation of new members again. You know, we are heading for 100 members and getting closer and closer. After our meeting we will join the residents for coffee at 2:30 p.m. in the library.
Saturday, May 1st--Here again it is our meeting at The Danish Home on a Saturday beginning at 12 noon. We will have installation of officers for the coming year. We will be initiating some more new members and this is our great day when Esther Sorensen is taking over the program in conjunction with the upcoming Royal Wedding in Denmark of the Crown Prince later in this month. We will conclude again with treats with the residents at 2:30 p.m. in the library.
Sunday, June 6th we are back at the Home for our regular Sunday meeting schedule. We first have coffee with the residents at 2:00 p.m. in the Dining Room and then proceed to the Living Room for our meeting. We will have some special program but like I said before we don't even know what we are doing so we can't tell you a thing yet!!!!!!!
Friday, June 11th we are having the Klejner making party at Arline Kaiser's home. If I don't get this date straight once and for all, I don't know what I am going to do. It is definitely on Friday not Saturday as I indicated in my last E-Mail. Sorry about that. We will work on sign up sheet, etc., between our April & May meetings.
July again we will be going out to Steffensen's home to see what makes The Danish Pioneer tick and have a summer party. Here again, more details to follow.
August or September: I have talked with our new member Irma Orum from Midwest Groundcovers out in St. Charles and we are possibly trying to get a "field trip" together to their nursery, a fascinating place. Many of our members who are also on the Women's Auxiliary went out this past summer. We got on this flat bed wagon, sat on bales of hay and away we went. It was terrific. This would be either in August or September if we can get it together.
Sunday, August 22nd back to The Danish Home for our regular meeting schedule, and before you know it, time for the Scandinavian Day Picnic.
I have to stop this now, before you know it I am back into the bad weather season and we haven't gotten out of this one yet!!!!!!
See you soon.
Sisterly greetings, Nancy Nyholm, Secretary
