CAMP GRANTS

Have you started to think of warm, sunny days and a fun summer camp you can attend? Well, kids here's your chance! The Danish Sisterhood will assist you by awarding 10 general camp grants of $75.00 each, not to exceed the camp costs. You can attend a craft, church, handicapped, culture, sport, YMCA or YWCA camp, summer school, or many, many other camps.

Does the idea of immersing yourself in Danish Language and culture appeal to you? If so, there are two Danish Language camps, Skovsoen, in Bemidji, MN and Himmelbjerget, in Corbet, OR. We will award two language camp grants of $260.00 each to attend one of these camps.

Skovsøen is the Danish program at the Concordia Language Villages. This summer cultural and language immersion experience in the north woods of Minnesota is a wonderful opportunity for children ages seven to eighteen. Learning a new language and making friends while eating Danish meals, celebrating traditional holidays, bicycling along trails, swimming in Turtle River Lake or sipping juice at Café Terrasse make Skovsøen a memorable summer camp experience. The Youth Immersion session is a two-week session from July 4-16th for villagers eight through eighteen. Youth Exploration, a one week session for children ages seven through fifteen, is offered from July 4-9th as an introduction to the language village experience. The four-week Credit Session from June 20 through July 16th is an intensive language program for high school students. It provides the opportunity to earn High School language credit upon completion of all course work. Himmelbjerget is for youngsters from the 4th through 12th grade.
This year, the camp will be held from June 26-July 2.
You will participate in activities with themes pertaining to Danish history, culture and traditions.

Himmelbjerget Danish Camp offers an opportunity to become more familiar with the delightful little country of Denmark with a one-week exposure to Denmark's history, people, culture, and traditions. Learn basic Danish vocabulary, meet new friends and have a memorable time participating in Danish sports, folk dancing and crafts. The theme for this years' camp is NORSE MYTHOLOGY and all week campers will hear stories of Thor, Oden and Freyer. It's going to be an exciting week! GRANT ELIGIBILITY

All grants are available to Sisterhood members through age18 and children or grandchildren, through age18, of members in good standing with their lodge. A one-year membership in the Danish Sisterhood prior to application deadline is required. Only one grant can be awarded per family and a one-year waiting period for previous winners.
